Bitmap Monogram,
4-Letter System, Sequential Type Work

Bitmap Monogram:

The Bitmap Monogram consisted of creating a system using three letters. This system had to be recognizable throughout all three of the letters, and had to have defining parts that individuals could point out.  This project ended up challenging me due to the fact that I find it difficult to create systems that look like they fit together seemlessly. I had to force myself to think differently about this project than I have about similar situations in order to create a well fitting system.

4-Letter System:

The 4-Letter System challenged us to once again create a unified system between a span of a few letters, but this time, instead of startiing from scratch, we were given an R to build the system around. Also unlike the Bitmap Monogram, we were able to impliment curves into this system.  This project came alot easier to me than the other system creation  because I was given a blueprint to work from.  I enjoyed being able to interpret the R into my own order.

Sequential Type:

The Sequential Type assigment tasked us with creating an accordian fold page with two, ten letter words that melded seemlessly together.  We were only allowed to use a few colors for a palette which caused some difficulties in trying to connect the pages well, but ultimately I believe that I achieved an excellent conclusion to this project.

    Poster Fold

    Poster Fold:

The Poster Fold project challenegd us to create a poster detailing a music festival of our choosing. We had to create a cohesive design that illustrated the tone of the festival, all without using imagery. This project pushed us to use only colors and type to make powerful design. This project was sort of hard for me at first, as I was trying too hard to take the name of my festival literally, but once I took a step back and used concepts from other parts of the event, I feel like I was able to make a strong concept and design.

    Magazine

    Magazine:

The Magazine project was used as a way to challenge our sense of style, where we would be given the chance to create a cohesive design between imagery and typography.  I knew right away once I chose my article the kind of theme I wanted to go for with this project.  I really enjoyed playing with type and colors, and ended up creating my own assets for the pages, being the moon, star, and polar bear graphics.

    Packaging

    Packaging:

This project consisted of designing and building a physical desplay for a do-it yourself kit. I decided that I wanted to work with the ramen kit, digging into the concepts of Japanese culture to design a fun and engaging product. I designed my own typeface that envoked the feeling of noodles, a staple of ramen of course. I used oranges, yellows, and different tints of white for my color palette.

      Personal Artwork

      Personal Artwork:

My personal artwork is something that is very imporant to me. I have spent most of my life honing and curating a personal style that really speaks to me. I draw using my Ipad and the program Procreate, which I have been using for about 6 years. I have recently purchased a new program called Clip Studio Paint, and have been experimenting with using a more professional tool. Regardless of what program I’m using, any form of digital art created by me is made with intention, feeling, and passion.

      BIO

      BIO:

I was born in Billings MT in 2005, and have lived there my whole life. Growing up an only child gave me a lot of time to myself, so I turned to playing games with my toys and drawing on any piece of paper that I came across.  I descovered that I loved creating characters of my own and giving them stories. I’ve spent the last 20 years creating and creating, and now Im persuing a degree for Graphic Design, which I hope to use in order to become a character designer for a video game company, specifically Toys for Bob, or Insomniac Games.
